Many of us would like to have a few less 'laughter lines' or crows' feet. Meon Dental can now help you achieve this. Young skin is smooth and elastic and contains a large amount of hyaluronic acid that helps the skin look healthy. As we grow older, the ability of the skin to produce hyaluronic acid decreases and the amount of hyaluronic acid begins to fall. As hyaluronic acid helps to bind water, the ability of the skin to retain water also declines with age. As a result, the skin becomes drier, thinner and less able to restore itself. The loss of skin fullness also means that the skin becomes looser. This leads to wrinkling and the older appearance of the skin.
We can use what are known as 'dermal fillers' to help rehydrate your skin and reduce wrinkles and lines. A small amount of the filler is injected into the skin with a very fine needle. The injected gel produces natural volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. The results can be seen immediately.
We can also use muscle relaxing agents such as Botox which will reduce the activity of the muscles that cause lines to form over time. These 'muscle inhibitors' work by temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause persistent lines. Within days you may see an improvement that can last 6-12 months.
These treatments are fast, painless and safe and leave no scars or other traces on the face. The treatment is long-lasting but not permanent. This means that you always have the option to assess your looks. The length of time a treatment maintains its effect is very individual and depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, life-style and muscle activity, as well as the injection technique. Our experience has shown that a typical treatment can be effective for up to one year or more. Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months after the initial treatment of wrinkles.
